The Second Sunday Folk and Acoustic Music club meets every second Sunday of the month at Bollington Arts Centre, Palmerston Street, Bollington, SK10 5JR.
Our aim is to encourage local singers and players and to provide them with an opportunity to play to an enthusiastic audience in a professional environment.
Doors open 7.45pm with music 8.15p-11pm. Entrance is £2 with all money going to help maintain the building. This is Bollington's Folk Club on Sunday night.
The Second Sunday Club has two parents: a group of local folk/acoustic music enthusiasts, and the management group at Bollington Arts Centre.
The recently renovated Arts Centre operates a varied programme of cultural activities and is a focal point for musical. dramatic and visual art and craft activities in Bollington and the immediate area.
For this reason, when the idea to create a new music club was first suggested, the Arts Centre was a natural choice. When we approached the Arts Centre committee, they were very enthusiastic and supportive. Two trial evenings were organized and met with a great response.
The club had its first official night on Sunday 11th September 2011.The room was packed.
A big `Thank You` to all who made the Folk Weekend a great success. From the opening notes played by Anthony John Clarke and Maplewood on Friday evening, to David Hudson`s touching version of Mary Asquith`s `Closing Time` which ended the Sunday night club session, it was a lovely three days. All had a good time whilst raising money for the Arts Centre and next years Bollington Festival.
A special pat-on-the-back goes to all who contributed to the smooth running of the event by running sessions, selling beer, collecting tickets etc.
